Operating results for Q2, 2013, announced by Aurora

Aug. 8, 2013, Taipei - Aurora Corp. (hereinafter referred as "Aurora" or "The Company", 2373 in TWSE) announced its financial result of Q2, 2013 today. Benefited from steady performance in Office Automation (OA) business in Taiwan and China, continuous simmer effect of "National Brand" of Aurora, strong running momentum in Office Furniture business in China, the EPS of Q2, 2013 reached NT$ 1.06, 13% of growth compared with NT$ 0.94 of Q1, and hit the new record. Accumulated net income for this first half year was 610 millions with NT$ 2.0 of EPS, more than 20% of growth compared with the same period of last year.

Revenue

Benefited from the continuous simmer effect of "National Brand" of Aurora, excellent performance in Office Automation (OA) and Office Furniture business in China and steady business running in Taiwan, the consolidated revenue of Q2, 2013 reached NT$ 2.67 billions, 20% declined than the same period of last year, but 8% grew than Q1. (Aurora Telecom was deconsolidated from Aurora and treated as an equity investment starting from Nov. 2012.) 
 
If the revenue is counted on the same basis, and the discrepancy caused by Aurora Telecom is eliminated, the consolidated revenue of Q2, 2013 is 6% grew than the same period of last year, and 8% grew than Q1.
 
The revenue of Q2 in China was counted around NT$ 1.78 billions, with annual growth of 8%, and shared 67% of consolidated revenue approximately.
 
The shares within business revenue in Taiwan and China are: 27% of OA in Taiwan, 6% of Office Furniture in Taiwan, 25% of OA in China, 33% of Office Furniture in China and 9% in Electronic Products respectively. The Office Furniture business in China won the highest share in the revenue of Q2, counted as one-third of overall. It plays the major momentum for continuous growth of the company in the future.
 

Gross Profit

The gross profit of Q2 was NT$ 1.19 billions. Benefited from the increased share of revenue in Office Furniture, increased supply and service rates of Office Automation (OA) in China, and Aurora Telecom deconsolidated from Aurora and treated as an equity investment starting from Nov. 2012, the gross margin of Q2 is 44.5%, 39.2% grew than the same period of last year significantly.

Operating Income

The operating income of Q2 was NT$ 189 millions, 6% grew than the same period of last year, and the operating margin was 7.1%, 5.3% grew than the same period of last year significantly.

Net Income

The net income of Q2, 2013 was NT$ 323 millions, 20% grew than NT$ 269 millions of the same period of last year, and EPS was NT$ 1.06, both hit the new records.

The Focus of Marketing

The distribution organization of Office Automation (OA) in China has been changed to the Responsibility Centers System, and Major Customer Sectors were established in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, so as to push the operating performance improved significantly. At present, in China, the unit numbers, either sold or Machine in Field (MIF), all hit the records.

Recent Events and Outlook

For Aurora OA in China
"10th China Customer Service Forum" and "8th China Best Customer Service Award" were held in Beijing on 10th, July. In above mentioned events, Aurora OA won "China Best After-Sales Service" and "China Best Service Management", while Aurora Customer Service Center won "China Best Customer Service Center". Aurora OA in China takes service value seriously, drives "248 non-stop service" in long-term basis and offers the commitment of "Respond within two minutes, offer service within four hours and solve trouble within eight hours" to customers. It also integrates the information coming from Aurora Customer Service Center, to offer comprehensive service, and become the only one award-winning business among competitors. These achievements drive the growth of OA sales in China market and hit a new record.
 
For Aurora Office Furniture in China 
"2point" magnet, the creative product of Aurora Office Furniture, won the Silver Award of "Office and Efficiency", IDEA, the first place of 3 major design awards in the world on July, 2012. Furthermore, this June, "2point" mixed the creative concepts, such as environmental protection, sharing and fun, etc. into its packaging design, and again, it was nominated the "Industrial Design Award", IDEA. Nowadays, Aurora Office Furniture becomes the first brand in high-end market in China with its design of high quality.
 
June, 2013, in view of significant performance on innovations in the aspect of design and technology, with a stable cooperation between industry and college, and the leader among competitors, Aurora Office Furniture was certified as "Enterprise Technology Center in Shanghai" by The Economic Commission and Finance Bureau, etc. in Shanghai. In addition, it won "China Top 10 High End Furniture Brands" title again during "Office Furniture Bidding and Procurement Evaluation Event", held jointly by China Bidding and Procurement Website - the only one designated website of China government and Chinese Famous Enterprises Ranking Website - a professional bidding evaluation website in China. The title is the key factor of government performing procurement project. Again, this achievement highlights the brand strength of Aurora Office Furniture.
 
To respond the prevailing of smart mobile device in recent years, the SMR (Sales Mode Rebuild) and BPR (Business Process Rebuild) Mobile System are introduced into Aurora OA and Office Furniture respectively from Q2, 2013. Therefore, sales person can offer the services, such as "Virtual Showroom", "3D Product Display and Presentation", "Online Diagnosis" and "Instant Space Planning", etc. to customers with a Pad. This not only creates a whole new and in time service mode for customer but improves the efficiency of the staff at frontline and save the duration of personnel training, so that the business performance will be able to expand significantly.
